The idea anyway is to have fun, while bringing out your inner creative self.
It is possible to take out fancy dress ideas from books related to history, which describe pictorially different eras of civilisation, or from any of your favourite movies, TV serials, comic books, etc. Historic characters are usually preferred by adults, who would require customised dressing, or else you may go in for trying to become something different in an adventurous manner.
As parents of kids who really want to win any fancy dress competition, you may have to be real imaginative. The common ideas include characters from cartoons, fairy tales, or something like elves, pirates, animals, etc. However, if you want something entirely different, it can be by dressing your kid as an object, or creating a whole new character that has some unique quality, which can be exaggerated through matching accessories.
